The story of Kazeko Tsukiyomi.

Born as the first daughter of a samurai in 1135, and was following in her fathers footsteps, until the age of 9 where her life changed dramatically.

her family is from the local Kansei region, boarding in the the Kyoto prefecture. Her father (Iwao - Stone man) is a well established samurai, who lives in a simple house with his wife and two sons. the eldest (Akio - Glorious hero) is 2 years Kazekos senior, the youngest (Kioshi - Pure) is 10 years her junior. Her mother (Hotaru - Lightning bug) was 14 when Akio was born, and played a major role in influencing Kazeko throughout her life. When she was born her father was a small time samurai, only recently arising to his position in the local area. As Kazeko grew up however, her father grew more stern, and firmly situated in his belief. Hotaru did offer her choices. Kazeko developed in her early childhood with the training and belief of her father, but with the flighty decisions and ability of her mother.

She trained extensively in weaponry, but every time she was confronted with the sight of blood she would freeze, and suffered greatly as a consequence. Due to this, while she trained with Katanas her entire life, she was never able to live up to her fathers expectations.

on the eve of her 10th birthday, her gift manifested. She was training with her father in the forest, trying to hunt down a deer, when she fell from the tree she was hiding in. A few foot from the ground, a large pair of white wings manifested behind her, and the wind whipped up, slowing her fall. Her father, upon seeing this, was fearful for her life, and rushed her back to the town for healing and help. upon arrival however, it was found she has no injuries, and was unable to remember anything that happened.

Her father organized a trip to the local healer, who had settled there in the past few years while he organized and set up a construction project for his people. The healer was a man named Thocomerius, who was a man from a far away land. he had arrived a year prior, and was already rumoured as a Onii, due to his fantastical abilities. Despite the risks, Iwao Decided it was worth the chance that his daughter might be saved from whatever had affected her. Upon arriving however, he found a different result.

Traveling to the home of Thocomerius was not what he had expected. People started to recoil from their presence, the townsfolk who grew up alongside him and Kazeko were starting to be affected by her gift, and as such kept their distance, mistrustful of everything. Iwao mistook this as fear of the Onii that could be affecting his daughter, and made haste to resolve this.

Upon arriving at the house of Thocomerius, he found a small abode filled with fantastical items, in the oddest of shapes and sizes. As soon as he arrived however, the man descended on the pair and exclaimed his surprise.
"A gifted one? out here?!"
for the next two days Thocomerius and Iwao spent much time in discussion, and it was decided on the morn of the 5rd day after her 10th birthday that she would stay here, in apprenticeship to the Magus and learn to control her gift.

When her 15th birthday had passed, her Parens revealed to her that she would no longer appear to age, and that there was nothing he could do about it. Disbelieving, she just smiled, and it would not be for several years that she would real what he meant, and how much it would affect her. As a consolation for her loss (as he saw it), he gave her a gift of a Bonsai tree, and showed her how to care for it, and how to harvest the Creo vis that it produced for use in her spells.

Fifteen years after first arriving on the doorstep of Thocomerius' sanctuary, Kazeko is stood at the dock waiting for the arrival of the rest of her new covenant, who will be her companions and allies for the rest of her life.

Journal Year 1160.
It’s spring and the new arrivals are due at last. I’ve been waiting for the past five years for them to arrive, ever since Master Thocomerius went into the basement after the rest of the magi. On Tuesday I set off to the port in Kyoto to await them, and I sat on the pier for two days waiting. When they finally arrived (and they took their time about turning up!), I must say I was slightly disappointed. I knew that they were different, but when only two women were among the group, I knew it was going to end poorly. The brutes didn’t even introduce themselves to me, meerly approached the steward and headed right for the covenant, without a pause!

When we arrived back after the journey, I went to get changed out of my riding clothes. It was a long exhausting ride, with not much conversation. While I was getting changed, the brutes nearly walked in on my sanctuary. Thankfully I heard them and hid in time, but still, to nearly walk into my sanctum unannounced...I’m glad I picked up that wind scythe. If they try it again I’ll take a leg off as punishment. Not only walking into a sanctuary, but into a ladies room while she is changing. how barbaric.

The first season went pretty well however, I spent most of my time cleaning out the water supply for the well as it had gotten blocked while I was away. I must remember to go upstream and widen the gully at some point, now there are more of us here I don’t know if the well can support us as it currently is.

Summer came around in a flash of warmth, and I finally got around to specialising my lab. I now understand what Thocomerius was referring to when he said that “A magus must pick, you cannot have everything.” I’ve gone for Aurum and Aquam. I think the weather might be my calling. I’ve always felt more at home in the sky anyway.

Autumn came, and with it the shedding of the leaves. It was not really on my mind however, as the books the covenant brought were finally unwrapped. The library! Oh, Thocomerius, if you could only see it! They brought a legendary book with them, all about creo magic. As the rest of the covenant were still creating their labs, I got to have the first read! It’s amazing, the things it goes on about were beyond my wildest dreams. It even has a dragon on page 417, which I think you would have liked to see.

Winter came around, and we set up for the Aegis of the Hearth, just like you used to. I miss you Thocomerius, and nothing is quite the same without you here. I spent this season studying a book they brought on Intellego, so that I might devise a way to talk to you once more.

The year 1161 rolled around, and I’m surprised the Daimyo has not come down to investigate the covenant yet. Just in case he arrived, I spent the spring studying their book on Perdo, so that I could defend my home better.

In the summer I went out hunting. I’ll admit, this was purely selfish, but the new covenfolk seemed to really enjoy the meat I brought back for them all. In honesty, I just wanted out of the building, and what better time to go out than during the Sakura blossom festival. No one else came with me, but that was their loss. maybe next year they can see the beauty of the flower festival.

Autumn led us to folly. One of our members found a Kappa. Fearing that they were about to go into a hoard alone, I followed to help them out, but it seems we managed to find a straggler. These magi have wonderful ideas however. instead of just kicking it over and knocking the water out, they decided to trap it in a cage of magic and bring it back to study. I may have to go pay it a visit to see if I can improve my Aquam control from it. They don’t seem to realise that you can just ask them to leave and it will go. Stupid foreigners.

Winter we reinforced the Aegis again, and I picked up a book on Rego. I figured out last year that it would be more than just intellego to contact you. I need to practice my Rego, Mentem and Imaginem to be able to pull off what I am thinking. I have my work cut out for me master, but that is what you expected isn’t it?

1162, It’s hard to believe that I’m 28 this year, in only a few months. I studied the book they have on Parma Magica, It’s nice, but it’s not as good a teacher as you are. It speaks a lot of “Resistances” and “Spatial Distortion”, along with a lot about measuring the coefficient, whatever that means. They don’t seem to understand that the Parma Magica is supposed to be an art. I might write a book on it myself so that they might come to understand this, but I’m unwilling to share your words of wisdom master. They just don’t deserve to be enlightened.
The other girl is nice however. She is caring for the Kappa in her lab, and it seems to be happy. The winds tell me that she doesn’t hurt it, which is something I was afraid of.
The veditius however lives in that horrible stone room in the tower you made. Why doesn’t he like the rooms I decorated? What’s wrong with the patterns, I thought they would appreciate them.
Guess I’ll find out later.

July 1st, the Daimyo sent his representative to the covenant. It's amazing how long it has taken him, I assumed that he had forgotten about the covenant, but I would assume that since the noise of the new magi moving in is so loud, even he must have heard. The covenant council had no idea of how to deal with the man, and it took us a long time to finally resolve the issues. Of especial note was how insulting the foreigners are to our culture. The talk openly in Latin in front of a diplomat, instead of retiring to a private room. They did not expect the Daimyo to take an interest in their expedition, Fools! Thocomerius dealt with him in a much easier manner, but I suppose since his disappearance the Daimyo has grown bolder. Eventually, they managed to settle on a resolution with the diplomat, swearing the mundane covenfolk into service (of which they intend to buy out every year. An acceptable solution, but not one that will gain them honour.) and electing Brooke-sempai to head of the house. They don't realise what they have done however, as by our culture she is now entitled to sit on their council meetings and overrule their oppinion. Thankfully she doesn't seem interested in politics, but I of all people know how power, or fear of power, can change you.
On a lighter note however, I think I may have found someone to test my latest invention on, as she insulted my name and clan in front of the rest of the magi. It will be interesting to see how long she survives, as I hear that she is a very resourceful woman who has survived where many would not. Had she apologized, I might be lenient, but this shame cannot go unpunished. For now, her fear will be enough.

Autumn was uneventful, I again retreated to my mind to study the Creo book. I don't believe these people have any idea of what they possess here. This book is worth more than their entire covenant makes in a lifetime!

In winter I went out on an adventure to check out the politics of the daimyo's Clan and house. I figured that if at least one of us went and scoped out the area for Charlotte it would be beneficial. I think they were surprised that a Japanese woman may become a Magus, but I feel it did the covenant good that I showed my face. It would appear that the Daimyo has not forgotten the havoc me and Thocomerius caused last time we was forced to attend here. Despite being on my best behaviour, There was a slight air of reverence everywhere I walked. It's hardly my fault my sigil manifests as a pair of wings. If that damn preist would leave, my life at court would be so much more peaceful. Although, he does serve a purpose in keeping the Daimyo reminded of what happened last time he tried to interfere with the covenant.

1163, and so passes my 29th birthday. I'm glad that I was born in spring, but the 9th of April was a bit much. Could I not have had a more normal birthday?
This entire year I spent in focused study on Creo. I have been taught a valuable lesson in this life, and as such I'm preparing myself now for the tasks ahead. The ability to create wind, lightning, water, and life will indeed be useful in the future. Thocomerius often spoke of practices that were outside the realms of normal magi, and I believe I will be able to achieve them. I've approached Rowan about a trip to the Fae realms, and if I could just find myself a portal to the infernal realms, I believe that I could finally step closer to my goal.

Meanwhile, my interest in the Magi around me grows. Who are they? Why are they here? What exactly should I be doing about them. So many questions, and all I will need answering before I let them glimpse at the idea I have had.

1164:

I FOUND IT! Finally, the book that will give me the answers I have been hunting for. I missed it the first time I read through it, but this book contains information left by Thocomerius for me. The true use of the art of hermetic magic. Even now, I find myself thankful that he was my master. This book conatins so many notes, I really have to cut through the text to appreciate this. By accident I ripped the cover of the book, and found that you had written this book. Thank you master. I appreciate now the words of sage advice. "sometimes, books should be read in reverse". I wish I could keep this momento of you.
Summer, I forgot to celebrate my birthday this year. Not that anyone of the covenant noticed, but I started research into the Creo book. This summer however Rowan proposed to me! He came to my room and asked if he could share my room. The idiot! Proposing like that out of the blue. He seemed earnest enough, and kept pestering me long after he should have taken the no. Maybe I'll give him a chance. The midget needs to be treat delicately after all. I gave him directions to my parents so that he could petition them as is appropriate.I do not know how it is done in their barbaric culture, but if he intends to marry me, then he will do it properly!.
Rowan went away this weekend. While he was gone I started the procedure of moving my pillows out of the storage corner in my lab. When he came back with a broken string I was shocked. After years of trying to marry me off to anyone, and they turn down the first suitable person? Baka Baka BAKA!
I'll move my pillows back tomorrow. Maybe.

Autumn I studied the Perdo book, As I feel it would be a good idea to be able to destroy earth if it is ever used against me. It's a long shot, but a Perdo Terram might just save my life.

Winter I learned dominion lore from Helga. I also managed to get the council to give me Thocomerius' book. In exchange for paying off the covenants vis debt, I got the book. It was a costly trade, and it was hard bargaining with them, but it was worth it. I could have bought many more tracti, and numberous summae with the vis this cost me, but I honestly think it was worth the trade. A deal that I would leave it in the library for ten years, and allow anyone who wishes to to read it, was a small concession. They are also not allowed to copy it for ten years, upon which time they will have to renegotiate with me, I will not allow the secrets placed here by Thocomerius to drift into nothingness.

The covenants Vis debt is now paid, and we are paying off the money debt fairly quickly. It's looking good for the covenant.
